This is an ongoing post -- I have yet to post explanations about the books and I haven't finished listing them either but here, hopefully you find something you love...
Hi there.
As a reader, I have experienced the pain of wanting to rave on about a particular book but there's absoutely no one to listen, so I figured, what better place to rave on about books if not a blog??
So here it is, a relatively long list of books I totally recommend. I will seperate them into categories and may repeat some of them.
Most of them are series and I sincerely apologise cos I read wayy too many series.
All of these books are completely clean; ranging from little to no romance but some of them may contain violence. Also, most of these are middle grade and some of them are kid-ish (I AM SORRY I WAS 11 WHEN I READ THEM) but if that isn't your cup of tea, then I'm sorry...
With that said, let's begin.
Islamic Character Development books:
- Refinement of Character by Imam Ibn Qudamah Al Maqdisi
- The Journey to Allaah by Ibn Rajab
- The Journey of the Strangers by Ibn Rajab
- Three that follow to the grave by Ibn Rajab
- Heartfelt Advices to a friend by Ibn Al Qayyim
- Winning the war within (Tibb Al Quloob #1) by Umar Quinn
All of the above get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dystopia:
- Among the Hidden (Shadow Children #1) by Margaret Peterson Haddix
Among the Hidden follows Luke Garner, a third child in a society where the most amount of kids you can have is two. Hence, Luke is hidden. I read this a long time ago but this book will keep you at your toes quite literally.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner #1) by James Dashner
The Maze Runner is a book that follows Thomas, a boy who lands up in a place called the Glade with absolutely no memory of his past besides his name. This book was intense like crazy intense. The following books will make you want to cry but also will make you want to go back in time and read this all over again.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Nightshade Academy (Belladonna #1) Mel Torrefranca
Nightshade Academy is special to me because believe it or not, Mel Torrefranca is a teen author who does YouTube videos. The book follows Yahshi, a boy who was selected to join Nightshade Academy even though his grades are low. As he continues trainging to be a Guardian in the school, Yahshi starts finding the line between good and evil getting blurrier. This book is just a rollercoaster.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantasy:
- The Ruins of Gorlan (Ranger's Apprentice #1) by John Flanagan
The Ruins of Gorlan is about Will, an orphan who wishes to be a knight. Instead, he gets chosen as the Ranger's Apprentice. This story falls in the fantasy segment but does not contain "powers" and things like that. It is a warm and lovely read and makes you want to read the whole series.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- The False Prince (The Ascendance 31) by Jennifer Nielson
The False Prince is a book about an orphan called Sage, an expert thief who gets taken by a nobleman along with three other orphans. To unify the divided people, Conner, a nobleman of the court, devises a cunning plan to find an impersonator of the king's long-lost son and install him as a puppet prince. Four orphans are recruited to compete for the role.
The plot twist is just incredible and may make you have your jaw dropped open for a few hours after reading. Also, Sage is literally such a mood...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- The Maze of Bones (The 39 Clues #1) by literally a million writers such as Rick Riordan, Gordan Korman, Margaret Peterson Haddix, Peter Lerangis, Jude Watson and MANY more.
To be honest, i don't remember what this was about but sure, it was great. I'll just paste the blurb here:
It stars Amy and Dan Cahill, two orphans who discover, upon their grandmother Grace's death, that they are part of the powerful Cahill family, whose members constantly fight each other for Clues, which are ingredients to a mysterious serum
⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Keeper of The Lost Cities (Keeper of The Lost Cities #1) by Shannon Messenger
This story was super cute for a fantasy. Sophie Foster, a regular girl – actually, not very regular, she has telepathic abilities – meets Fitz, a mysterious boy who appears out of nowhere, and who can also read minds like her.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- A Place Called Perfect (Perfect #1) by Helena Duggan
I'm so sorry but I don't remember what this was about either lol but here's the blurb.
Who wants to live in a town where everyone has to wear glasses to stop them going blind? And who wants to be neat and tidy and perfectly behaved all the time? But Violet quickly discovers there's something weird going on in the town - she keeps hearing voices, her mam is acting strange and her dad has disappeared.
Yeah I don't even remember what this was but I think I loved it!
⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Jackaby (Jackaby #1) by Willain Ritter
This story is a cross between a murder mystery and a fantasy; a young woman, Abigail who has run from home on a ship starts looking for a job. Until, she meets Jackaby, a man who claims to be a seer and is capable of seeing things other people can not. She works for Jackaby, as his assitant on a case of murder.
But, is the murderer a human?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- The Strangers (Greystone Secrets #1)
I don't remember this either, what on earth is wrong with me?! I think I'm going old.
Their mom (Kate Greystone) went away for a “business trip” after learning the news of 3 kidnapped kids and never came back. The kids were sent to live with Mrs. Morales and her daughter Natalie. Altogether, the kids and Natalie must work together to solve clues left by their mom.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
- The City of Ember (Ember #1) by Jeanne DuPrau
I don't remember names and guys, it is open to judge me but this is a book about a city underground. That's about it? Idk if I'll spoil it more if I say anything further.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
- The Blood Guard (Blood Guard #1) by Carter Roy
I read this on vacation and it was one really fun book. Once again, I don't remember very well but here: Ronan's mother reveals that he is part of the Blood Guard, a secret society of warriors protecting "pure souls". And he has to fight his rival (aka his dad) something like that but it was great.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Science Fiction:
- The Magic Factory (Oliver Blue and the School for Seers #1) by Morgan Rice
This story is about Oliver Blue, a boy unloved by his hateful family. Oliver knows he is different, and senses that he holds powers that others do not. Obsessed with inventions, Oliver is determined to escape his horrible life and make his mark on the world. When Oliver is moved to yet another awful house he is put into in a new sixth grade, one even more terrifying than the last. He is bullied and excluded, and sees no way out. But when he stumbles across an abandoned invention factory, he wonders if his dreams might be about to come true. Just read it and don't argue.
